Alarming Literacy Statistics - Reading in 2023, 52% of Black fourth graders and 45% of Hispanic fourth graders scored below basic reading levels. In a Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) assessment, 23% of Black students and 32% of Latinx students showed proficiency in reading, compared to 82% of white students.
Socioeconomic Status - 79% of students who are eligible for “free and reduced lunch” were not reading at grade level, compared with 49% of students who did not qualify.LYME LLC is dedicated to reversing the alarming literacy statistics through an action-oriented campaign. We aim to empower youth by distributing free, engaging books to churches, schools, and especially low-income communities. Our goal is to foster a love of reading early in life, which sets the foundation for success in school and beyond.
Promote Literacy - We are counting on you, especially our community's leading non-profit and for-profit organizations, to join in this essential work. We are seeking financial support, volunteer hours, and product donations to drive this initiative forward. Our goal is to distribute 600 books quarterly. Let’s get it done to support Christmas 2024 book donations.
Books can be purchased directly and gifted to an individual or the children's non-profit of your choice. The "Boys and Girls Club" is always a great choice.
Peace and blessing to you in advance for your generosity!
Thank you!!!
